It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing at all," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as captain.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
