The Evolution of a Movement is often characterized by specific steps.

1. The Grand Vision

A dominant personality or coaches propose a revolutionary approach that promises a cure for alienated and vulnerable people.

So here we are. Plans are in motion to storm the compound down in Brisbane. Pressure is mounting. Conflict emerges from the sidelines. One individual, naked, anxious, the words HIGH RELEASE POINT displayed prominently as a symbol, has emerged from the field and is taken aside with discretion for a temporary assignment in county cricket.

2. Initial Adoration

Movement founders offer a reboot, optimism ahead, support, salvation within a community with shared faith in the philosophy.

Here lies the truth. Everything is a cult. Bazball was a cult because cricket is a cult. In fact, the sport in England is closed, a circle, an elite gathering, a restricted environment with centuries of ceremonial past supporting it. This has always been where influence is guarded. It’s the imperial sport of the British, the early image-makers. And notably, Britain is itself a cult, a series of esoteric hierarchies, a place that literally still has a king.

The players have been sealed up in this environment since childhood. Seeking change, to foster positivity, they are just repeating their past, creating another a bubble, a closed circle, but doing it this time with a modern squad and a mentor encouraging individuality if you fit the mold.

Live where your feet are. Confront risks. But no matter how fast and far you run, you remain stuck.
