Patriots Equal Longest Winning Streak From Brady Years with Win Over New York Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five scores this season
The New England Patriots equaled their longest winning run since the Tom Brady period as they overcame division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the Patriots secured an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Brady's final season with the team in 2019
Quarterback Maye threw for 281 yards and a TD, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
Victory bolsters the Patriots lead at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York at the foot after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to conclude the Jets' opening drive
But the New England answered in the second period as the rookie rushed for two short rushing scores before the ball carrier caught a pass from Maye at the back of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He aims to be outstanding."
Fields found John Metchie late in the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the victory
