Zelenskyy Demands EU to Employ Frozen Russian Funds for Ukraine's Defence Financing

In the midst of continuing meeting negotiations, President Zelenskyy has insisted European Union leaders to activate actions using seized Russia's funds to finance Ukrainian defence campaign "as soon as possible".

Immediate Decision Required

Appealing to European Union officials in Brussels on Thursday, Zelenskyy highlighted the critical requirement to completely utilize Russian assets for Ukraine's security against current hostilities.

"Whoever procrastinates this decision is not only limiting our military but also slowing down your own progress," he stated, promising that the country would allocate considerable resources in purchasing European military equipment.

European Union Funding Initiative

EU representatives are presently evaluating initiatives to support an interest-free loan for Ukraine backed by Russian central bank resources, which were frozen immediately after the comprehensive invasion.

The European Commission has proposed a 140-billion-euro interest-free assistance, with possible instructions to prepare detailed juridical documentation seeking to finalize the initiative by the end of the year.

Moscow has described the scheme as "illegal seizure" and has vowed to target any persons or nations judged to have seized Russian money.

This action came after similar measures by the United States, which enacted measures on the Russian primary oil corporations, the energy giants.

Confidence in Agreement

Despite persistent wrangling over the financial assistance, several representatives expressed optimism in reaching an consensus.
